Maddie's Anglers Club

Maddie's Anglers Club is a group of local fisherman from the greater Marblehead area that share a common interest in fishing and enjoying the wonderful marine resources that surround Marblehead.  Started by Mark Magee, a past owner of Maddie's Sail Loft, and several of his friends the club has grown into more than 100 members strong and continues its commitment toward community and camaraderie on and off the water.  By sharing local experiences and knowledge we have greatly improved our collective ability to catch fish and enjoy our time on the water.
 
During the winter months the club sponsors guest speakers which include local authors, fishery scientists, expert guides and more.  The summer months are spent on the water fishing with family and friends.  We sponsor several fishing tournaments throughout the summer to help raise funds, awareness, and to promote friendly competiton.  The spirit of the club is based on sharing information with other members, promoting safe boating and creating community on the water.

Winter Speaking Series

 

 

First Light Anglers with Captains Derek Spingler and Nat Moody - Derek and Nat are well regarded as one of the best light tackle charter services in the area.  They target both small and large Bluefin Tuna.  Each year they provide tips and advice on how to pursue and target tuna.

 

Dr. Molly Lutcavage, Director of the Large Pelagics Research Center at Hodgkins Cove in Gloucester will be speaking about this year's research on Bluefin Tuna. She has partnered with commercial and recreational fisherman in an effort to tag and study tuna.

 

New England Sharks with Captain Tom King - Local fisherman and shark expert.   He has a website dedicated to educating people about the sharks that live in New England waters. We look forward to learning more about our local sharks.  http://newenglandsharks.com
